Vonda brings over 30 years of system engineering and cybersecurity experience in the intelligence and federal communities supporting the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). Currently, Vonda serves as a System Engineer for Leidos, a Fortune 500 company in the Washington D.C. area.
She is passionate about educating young women on the opportunities that science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) provides. She is a member of the Cyber Security Advisory Board for Howard County Public Schools supporting the Cyber Security Academy in Howard County, Maryland.
In partnership with the National CyberWatch Center, Vonda plays an active role in their annual “Cools Careers for Girls in Cyber Security” event hosted at the University of Maryland. Through this program, Vonda educates adolescent girls on cybersecurity and how they can use their passion for STEM for the future.
She arranged for over 40 students to travel to Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Reston, Virginia to meet the Vice President of Amazon Educate and to learn more about cloud technology.
Vonda is a 2019 Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) recipient in the category of Modern-Day Technology. She received her bachelor’s in mathematics from George Mason University and her master’s in IT Project Management from George Washington University.
